Dr Thomas Setter, 33 yr Rotarian,  retired orthopedist and past Idaho Dist. Gov., our speaker for the day proclaimed “Rotary has done more for me than I have done for Rotary.” Tom got a rotary scholarship that started him on his was to Medical School. Tom had two very well done displays on Rotary Volunteers and Health Volunteers Overseas, the two volunteer groups he works with.  He gave an explanation of the reason for the wars and health problems in parts of Africa and spoke of Uganda and Tanzania.  His slide presentation covered the training and teaching he and others did in those countries.  He spoke of some successes operating in sub-standard facilities and how the volunteers helped large number of Africans.

Guests were: Jose Pasqual Diaz, Marilee Seigrest, and Eddie Nichols.  The latter requested contributions for a racing wheel chair as a Christmas gift for a handicapped person in need.

The raffle went unclaimed

Fines were being assessed until -

Dave Hadley then stepped up and donated $50 to stop all fines so the club could hear the fine speaker for the day. How fine.

Dominic Sabbia announced:

Kathy Fillipone, Rita Hadley, John Ikard and Jack Sigler are scheduled to read at the 51st Ave Program this week and by the time our meeting starts  Dominic and Art and Sharon Stoltz should have already done so.  A group gave a skit to encourage participation.  They need a writer and coach.

Alfonso Rodriguez announced  a $6000 matching grant was sent to Mexico for the orphans.

Guest - Jose Pasqual-Diaz community laison for P.V. Schools asked for and received funding for a cultural history program.
